查尔斯.罗林（1661年1月30日 – 1741年12月14日）法国著名历史学家和教育家。他出生在巴黎。
1694年，他任巴黎大学的校长。晚年开始撰写历史著作，其中最著名的就是这部《古代史》（巴黎，1730年至1738年初版），还有一部《罗马史》。其中以这部《古代史》最为著名，是早期西方史学经典之作。本书为该书的英文译本第一版，为其中军事史的一部分，然而可以独自成篇，供军事方面的研究者收藏研究。
